In the parable of the sower, I believe most Christians fall in the category of seed sown among thorns. “…but the worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth and the desires for other things come in and choke the word, making it unfruitful.” Are we fruitful or does the American Dream choke it out?
My brother once told me of an interview he listened to on the radio. The guy being interview was a Pastor in China. The interviewer asked the Pastor what does he pray for the most. The pastor said he prays for the American people. Because he believes we have it harder than Christians in China. In China you can really focus on God because that’s pretty much all one has when being persecuted. But the American people have all these things that surround them and take there minds off of what is most important. We have stuff that makes us feel OK, for the most part. So we don’t rely entirely on our faith.
