Pajamas and Pancakes
Saturday’s I’m very lazy. But for good reason. I get to spend most of the day with Wyatt. We basically lay around in our pajamas, eat waffles, or cheerios…lots of cheerios, and pull out every toy he has. I do nothing. It’s nice. Then as he naps, I scramble to clean house like I’ve been working hard all day. But it’s nice to just hang out with the kid.
FYI
I’m now blond….like need sun-glasses blond. (as in hair)
No comments from the peanut gallery please.
Clean House
Man, I need to clean out some of the corners of this blog….dusty. Update the books and music I’m into. And I need to get that cheesy picture of me off!
IVF…again…
In our last episode, the Pickwell’s had to postpone their IVF journey to take care of their current IVF product – Wyatt. But all is well now and they begin again….
So here we go. Another stab at the IVF prize…screaming babies. [Side-note: If you can get through the 1st 8weeks, I think it just gets better and better. Wyatt has to be the cutest, funniest, happiest 1yr old I know. I love him! End side-note]
We would have started last month but the fertility clinic closes for 2 weeks in June – guess they have to take vacations too. But alas my wife has reach the point of the month where we call the clinic and say “Let’s GO!” And the first thing they do is put us on birth control….so strange and cruelly ironic.
Thanks to good insurance, Wyatt’s incident only put us back 1k – which translates that we were only that far behind on paying for a baby. Seriously, its like we’re going to the baby-lot to pick out a baby. Costs the same, only we don’t get to pick the baby. God does. Actually if we were really demented we could pick the sex, screen for disease, etc. Very Sci-fi. But we’ll leave that in God’s hands.
So I think it will be fun to instead of saying to Wyatt, “I brought you into this world and I can take you out.” I can I say, “I paid good money for you kid and I can take you back.” Of course I would never do that just as my Dad would never ‘take me out’. Though he probably came close.
So stay tuned to ‘IVF Journey’ to see what is going on. I’ll keep you posted!
Revenge of the Ants
My home is being invaded by sugar ants – those small, tiny ants that are drawn to all things sugar. Tomorrow the pest inspector will ride in on his white van and nuke those little punks to the next life.
But they know something is amiss. They feel their days are numbered. There are rumors in the air of a prophecy in the ant kingdom. A doomsday prophecy that one new giant creatures will arrive in ‘their’ home, take up residence, and after a flurry of activity, a rivers of poison will begin to flow – and life as sugar ants will end.
Yes they know this because I walked into my office today and they have called ahead to their sugar an cousins in the far world of Fredericksburg. There are stupid little sugar ants here too!
Little do they know that the man in the white van travels to this world as well. And with him he brings more cans of poison and gas.
This is war little ant. And I will win.
–Just killed another.
Discipline
I guess blogging or twittering is like anything else in life – it takes discipline. I’ve simply had no desire to do either. Didn’t care. Waited for the urge. Never came. I honestly can’t figure out how people can blog so much.
But it’s different for everybody. Some people like to exercise. Not me. Some people like to read. Not me. My nature is to do everything else but. So I have to discipline myself. Some people like to blog. And there are times that I love to jot down my thoughts. But a majority of the time it’s going to be a discipline.
I’ve thought about what I’d like to say, what I’d like it to become. I never see it gaining the popularity of Los’. Nor the wittiness of Ben’s. But I would like it to simply help me build relationships with other leaders and let the people of Lifepoint peak inside my heart. We’ll see.
1st Fireworks
Spotsylvania County has a great 4th of July celebration. Best part is we only had to walk about 2 blocks to get to it! Tons of people, good friends, and funnel cake. How can you be that? We were a bit anxious to see how Wyatt reacted to the fireworks. We were close…really close. We were basically looking straight up. And he didn’t flinch. I anticipated him freakn’ out and us having to leave. But he watched almost the whole 30 mins of it – without earplugs.
FCA PowerCamp
Last week I had the privilege of leading worship for the Fredericksburg FCA PowerCamp. Tons of fun! But by the end of the week I was sapped. Those kids wore me out. Imagine leading “Salvations Chorus”, “One Way”, and “Happy Day” (among others) to 250-300 elementary and middle school age students all singing as loud as they could and jumping up and down the whole time….they wore me out! I was glad to do it and hope to have the opportunity again!
All Dammed Up
It’s been way too long since I’ve blogged. I feel a barrage coming.
