Blown away!

For a good summary of this post go here.

God is up to something.  The first Sunday in January we had 336.  We ran out of seats!  The ushers were running around like mad men trying to fix the problem.  I actually had a friend visit that day and he said that our ushers were "a force of nature."  Way to go guys!

So the week following there was much wringing of hands and deep contemplation.  What do we do?  3rd service?  New campus?  Meet in the parking lot with 30 degree weather?  One of our volunteers had a perfect solution.  We pulled out 1 set of the 3 bleachers that line the left wall – covered them with pipe and drape – and dropped the drape when we needed it.  And boy did we need it!  388!  I can’t believe how fast it filled up.

So now what do we do?  Well 1st we moved the 9:15 service to 9:30 in an attempt to get more people in there (which it was nearly full last week).  2nd we are going to pull out a 2nd set of bleachers.

I think the hardest thing to do is stay ahead of God.   When you commit yourself to increasing your capacity for God to bless, you better hold on.  Because God has a way of blessing you much faster than you could ever imagine!

This wave is amazing!  Surfs up dude!

Bad Jeremy…

Ok, so I’ve been bad.  Pitiful actually.  I know I haven’t kept up with this thing like I should.  Funny thing is I have more to say than ever!  So beginning now, prepare yourself for a barrage of posts – some will make sense, others maybe not.  But here it goes!

And daggumit, comment!

Shoot-em-up

I can’t believe I forgot to write about this!

Dec 21, the Friday before Christmas Eve, Josh (Family Pastor), Josh (Connections Director), and myself had the opportunity to go to the FBI academy to shoot some machine guns!  We each shot a Thompson Machine Gun (which I loved being a WWII buff), an Oozie, and a MPK-5.  Man does a clip go fast!

Christmas Eve Planning

Christmas_eve_cue_sheetbWe use a cue sheet format we received from Elevation Church.  They received the cue sheet format from another church….point?  Don’t reinvent the wheel.

Anyway, I believe that one reason for the smoothness of night was the use of this cue sheet.  We had several elements: 2 computers, 3 screens, 2 separate light boards, a spot, sound techs…Yikes!

"Side" refers to the computer running the side screens, and "middle" refers to the computer running the center screen.  "House" refers to house lights.  "Video Reading" had its own cue sheet when we got to that point. (You’ll see why later!)

And run-throughs.  real time run-throughs are critical – essential – non-negotiable!  If you want your techs to know what is going on do this!  Plus you want to make sure all of your video and media elements work correctly.
