Countdown Clocks

As most of you, I get tired of the same countdown clocks running every Sunday.  We have about 12 we purchased from somewhere and I just got bored with them.  In fact, some of them were just plain ugly.  Besides, I liked the idea of having a countdown clock match our series.

One day I stumbled upon some from Digital Hotcakes.
Boldwhitecount

I take the series splash, import it into Final Cut, overlay the countdown, place it where I want and resize it using the ‘Motion’ tab, then adjust the Chroma Green key to make the green disappear – and just like that – a custom countdown for each series.  They have white and black of various font types.  Check it out and play around with it.  One cost $15 and I’ve used the same one since I bought it!

Set List 11-11

Great Sunday coming up!  New series!

Cancellation Apprehension

Netflix

So we’re cutting back some expenses and one of the casualties is Netflix.  Sorry guys.  But we do have a Redbox around the corner – which I love.

So today was the big day.  I was all prepared with my speech.  I had the front up.  I had my stern voice ready.  I knew I was in for a fight.  Some poor sap on the other end was going to try to give me 1 -2 maybe 3 months of free service just to stay with them – because they are scored on retention. NO NO NO!!!  I would have to repeat over and over…getting more flustered by the minute.  Oh how I was dreading it.

"Thank you for calling Netflix.  How can I help you?"

"I need to cancel my service."

"Ok, what is your 6 digit account number"

"123456"

"Ok, and your name?"

"Pickwell"

"OK.  I have you canceled and since your billing date was today, I went ahead and refunded your money.  And we’ll give you 7 days to return your current movie.  Anything else I can help you with?"

At this point I was dumbfounded.  They’re even nice to you when you’re leaving.

How dare they!!!

I find it strange that the Pharisees always seemed to focus on the threat and not the miracle…not the changed life in front of them.  Take Mark 3 for example.

"Another time he went into the synagogue, and a man with a shriveled hand was there . . . they watched him closely to see if he would heal him on the Sabbath."

The Pharisees knew Jesus could heal.  They knew he could do the miraculous.  But they didn’t care.  They never stopped to look at the individual.  They just always focused on who the threat he was.

Sounds silly doesn’t it?  "Ok, so what Jesus can HEAL.  According to rule 1203 Section B, subsection 24A, it is wrong."  Yet how many times do we talk down another ministry or pastor because we don’t agree with something they’ve said.  We don’t stop to look at the changed lives in their ministry.  The souls snatched from an eternity without Christ and turned towards the one true God.  No we don’t see that.  Instead we focus in on the person in charge because their theology seems to be 3% wrong.  Are we naive enough to think our theology is 100% correct?

It’s all about the changed life….the life healed through Christ Jesus.
