Good for the soul

So confession is good for the soul, right?  Well here I go.

This has been an unbelievable morning.  5:30, staff meeting with my volunteer leaders – love that meeting.  We have a great time.  Then 7:00 staff meeting.  Another good time, celebrating what God is doing and working to resolve challenges that lay ahead.

Then I got a phone call from Jennifer, my parents car has been stolen.  Oh, by the way, my parents were visiting from TX.  So I grab my stuff and bolt out of the meeting to my house, which was 3 mins away.  Then Jennifer calls me back.  The car hasn’t been stolen.  It was towed by our piece of crap HOA.

About a month ago we received a letter form our landlord that we have these new guest tags for overnight visitors in the guest parking spots.  Why you need a guest pass when you are clearly in a guest spot is beyond me.  Well we forgot.  And some 2 bit towing company from Stafford scouts the parking lot looking for fresh meat at 1:45 AM.  No phone call.  No knock.  Just towed.  And it was clearly our car.

Now I know it was our fault for not remembering some new policy that was implemented a month ago when we never have guests stay the night.  God forbid we forget something.  Man it feels like the Gestapo in Nazi Germany around here.

I don’t think I have ever been so mad in my life.  I was fuming.  And thank God our stupid HOA decided to take an extra day off or President’s day.  Because I had the most colorful, forceful, ticked off speech you ever heard ready.  Man was I mad.  But God spared me the embarrassment.  Only my wife and mom saw it for about 30 seconds.

God, please help us find a house and get out of here!

What a Sunday!

Man do I love what I do!

Yesterday we did "Take It All", "Amazing Grace", and "God of 2nd Chances" (original).  And the band was crankin’!  We also did are most technically difficult song ever – at least in my opinion – "Stars" by Switchfoot – and we nailed it.  I am so proud of the band.  They can do anything you throw at them.  Amazing talent.

I honestly believe we have one of the best bands in Virginia.  God has truly blessed us!

Pastor Daniel spoke on facing the giants in our lives.  Man what a powerful message.  God really brought a word through him and the people were glued.  They needed to hear it.

Again we hit the 400 mark.  God please provide us a new space!

Money Pit

232300_9c98744cSo our big news has turned bust.  So it seems.  Went to meet the inspector today to look over our potential house purchase.  Not good.  Sagging floor joists, standing water in the crawl space, broken hot water heater, leaky pipes, and a mysterious black hole in the closet which seems to be some rip in the space time continuum – Lord knows how much it would be to patch that thing up.

So now we must decide if we want to negotiate the bank fixing these things, or walk away.  I know which way I’m leaning.  Just sucks to have to start back at square one.

Props to my peeps

Mad props to our production team.  We had a music video, which you can see here, that the band played along with during the service.  Ran great for the run-through (actually 4 run-throughs), ran great 1st service, completely crashed 2nd service.  Don’t think I won’t be on the phone with ProPresenter and Apple today finding out how this happened!  Yes, Apples crash too.

But aside from that, nobody knew – except for us.  We noticed the click was missing half way through the song.  But the band kept playing – never missed a beat.  The production team didn’t panic.  They re-started the program, put the lyrics back up on the screen, found the regular bumper, (we had the bumper built into the music video) cued it, and played it exactly where it needed to go.

I’m very impressed – and proud!  You guys and gals rock!

Big news…

So here is the big news…We made an offer on a house and it was accepted!  Yeah!  So let me tell you the story…

We’ve been looking for over a month.  We joked that our real estate agent has gotten to watch Wyatt age because we’ve looked for so long.  I was sick of looking at houses.  And boy have we seen some doozies.

The ironic thing is the house we’re getting is the very first house we looked at.  And God just allowed us to keep looking as he kept dropping the price – thank you God!

So now we wait till closing, which is the tedious part.  The only stipulation Jennifer has on the house is that we replace the carpet ASAP – Pepto Pink just doesn’t seem to go with anything we have.  Anybody know how to lay wood floors?
