Baby Drama

We evidently love excitement in our life. Tubal pregnancies, IVF, failed pregnancies that actually ended up being a successful pregnancy. Let’s see…. What else? Oh forgot about the ruptured cyst. Through it all God has protected, provided, and giv en us peace.

Now we get to add one more to the mix – previa. Looks like at 33 weeks Jennifer has booked herself a 3 week stay in the hospital. Just too far along to risk her going into labor and bleeding. We’ll have a c-section in the next few weeks, so she’ll just stay put till then. 1. Pray for Weston’s lungs. 2. Pray that the surgery is uneventful and that they don’t have to remove anything but a baby. 3. And pray for sanity!

Birthday Surprise

I currently am tapping my thumbs against a lit-up piece of glass and watching letters pop up. I’ve been wanting an iphone as long as they’ve been out, but the budget rules and over-budget bathrooms pinch the wallet. But Tuesday night the volunteer leaders surprised me with enough cash to get one for my birthday. Thank you all!

Oh. Please pray for Jennifer. If she hears the word ‘app’ one more time I think she’ll scream!

Unleash

Awesome.  Amazing.  I think a pivotal point in our church history.  Our volunteers are pumped!

Now that I’ve slept and have had a chance to digest everything I took in, I have one big take away:  Do we really want to do this without God?  Do we ever get on our face and beg God to show up?  Of course we want God to be there, but does it translate into prayer?  We need systems.  Have to have them.  But be careful not to allow the systems to overshadow the work of God.

Perry Noble commented on how all of the sudden a lot of people began to show up.  He was asked what were they doing.  He honestly couldn’t come up with an answer.  “Nothing.  We were doing nothing special.  No flyers, no mailers, no attendance push.  They just showed up!”

We say the phrase alot, “Work like it depends on us, pray like it depends on God.”  Problem is most tend to do the first part really well.  Now let’s pray because it DOES depend on God.

Lifepointer’s, let’s pray that God begins to rock our world!  Let’s pray that he just messes us up so much that we have to look at what God is doing and say….had to be God.

Saturday Thoughts

Saturday morning is usually spent trying to find enough things to entertain a 20month old till nap time.  For now he is content with his Chick-fil-a cow and digging through my file folder.  So I thought I would give some insights to what is going on in my life…quickly before he comes back to fidget with the mouse.

  • Unleash was freakn’ awesome!  Perry Noble cracks me up with his blountness…refreshing and much needed!
  • The bus ride was a hoot!  Jennifer thought it felt like riding on the front of a roller coaster because we were in the front seat…all that was between us and road was a huge window!
  • Loved driving the bus nuts with the intercom….me love power.
  • The time at the end we got to pray over our pastor was worth the entire trip!
  • Half the bus ate Chipotle on the way home…not a good idea.
  • Next year I want to take 100!
  • I have a list 2 pages long on my cabinet in my office of books I want to read this year.  Yeah, you could call it over-ambitious.
  • Bathroom is almost done, just trim work and 1 more light to go up. Finally!
  • Bathroom is almost done, so P90x is back on the table.
  • Accidentally ripped out the wrong bathroom fan last night.  Things are confusing in an attic!
  • My ma-n-law and sis-n-law just left this morning.  A big thanks to them for coming up and watching Wyatt!
  • Wyatt has bouroughed himself underneath the stairs…guess I need to get him shortly.
  • How do you spell bouroughed?  Because that ain’t right.
  • Can’t wait for tomorrow!
  • I’m so pumped about what God is doing and what he’s getting ready to do!
  • I think Wyatt is eating a wreath.
  • Pray for our pregnancy.  Jennifer has Previa, which is not good.  Baby is fine though.  Just pray it moves.  Google it if you don’t have any idea of what I’m talking about.
  • Need…i….phone.
  • To sell my ipod or not?  My ma-n-law said she’d buy it, but 8Gigs on an iphone doesn’t seem like a lot of space.
  • I think Wyatt has done a number in his britches.  Time to go!
  • Nasty!

Surpise!

If you miss Sunday, you’ll be kicking yourself in the pants. Powerful, moving, fun, and a surprise to boot! And I’m excited about leading worship, so the energy is going to be off the charts! Buckle up! And make sure you invite 2 people with you. Let’s see how many people we can get there to hear God’s word!

Safe Eyes for the portable man

When the iPhone came out, I must admit – I coveted.  Lord please forgive me.  Come on!  That thing is amazing!  The lines.  The vivid colors.  The usability.  The….well you get the picture.

But I waited.  For a few reasons.  First, I ain’t got da cash.  But selling stuff was a consideration.

Second, porn.  You heard me.  Porn.  Don’t like that word huh?  Makes you uncomfortable?  Well consider this, 47% of families say that pornography is an issue in their home.  The average age a kid sees pornography? 11.  Over 50% of men say that pornography is an issue.  And even more than that say that pornography is a temptation.  See where I’m going.  So I use filters and accountability.  In the office we use filters.  “You don’t trust each other?”  “You’re too weak?”  Think what you may, but boundaries are necessary in every area of life.  And by choosing to use filters we are saying that this thing of integrity is too important to let get messed up.

I think that cellular porn is the next thing to bring men down.  First it was the internet, which allowed men to see ‘easy’ porn without having to hide there face at the local Fast Mart.  Now, streaming videos on your phone.

I’m not superman.  And I’m not going to open myself up to a whole mess of things.  So I refused the iPhone.  Argh.  Until now!  If you have an iPhone, you can now surf without wondering what will pop up next.  Safe Eyes has come out with a new iPhone app!

Now all I have to do is sell something.

Changing of the Guard

So on Nov. 7th we elected a new president. And I bet most of us would say to ourselves, “Thank God that’s over!” I mean come on! A year of presidential politics is just too much – even for me.

I would also dare say that most of those who read this blog didn’t vote for Obama – simply because I am a Pastor, and most of the readers are Lifepointers, and most church goers statistically are Republican, and you can see why I deduct that. But here is what I hope we don’t do:

1. I hope we don’t spend more time griping about Obama than we do pray for him.
2. I hope we aren’t so cynical and partisan that we lose site of the magnitude that we just witnessed the swearing-in of the first black president.  Now that is amazing no matter who you are.
3. I hope we don’t wish for him to fail.
4. In contrast, I hope we don’t put all of our faith in him.
5. I hope we don’t miss the opportunity to thank God that we were able to transfer power peacefully – again.
6. I hope we don’t miss the opportunity to be grateful that we are Americans.
7. I hope we don’t miss opportunities to acknowledge when he is right and makes correct choices.
8. I hope we don’t stop being involved in our communities because our guy didn’t get it. That’s called taking your ball and going home because you didn’t like how the teams were picked.
9. I hope we don’t get so caught up in being Americans that we forget that we are to be Christ-followers.
10. I hope we don’t miss the opportunity to come together.
